August 7, 2014 - Preview Night -- Thursday Highlights:
  • Junior Beef and Heifer Showmanship
  • Superior Young Producers Contest
  • Society Horse Show
  • Twilight Parade
  • Discount Carnival Rides
  • Twilight parade starts at 6pm from the corner of 9th and North Grand Ave and continues to Grandstand Ave.

August 8, 2014 - County Fair & Horse Racing Day -- Friday Highlights:
  • Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - 9:30 a.m.
  • Open Beef, Sheep and Poultry Shows
  • Junior Barrow, Beef, Pygmy Goat, Wether Shows
  • Society Horse Show
  • Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes (Two-Year-Old Eliminations)
  • More than 70 county fair queens and 105 fairs and expositions from across the state are represented at the fair on opening day. It is also the first of six days of harness racing at the fair's one-mile dirt track, which is the fastest in the world.

August 9, 2014 - Local Official's Day -- Saturday Highlights:
  • Open Barrow, Wether, Beef, Poultry Shows
  • Junior Steer
  • Sheep Costume Show/Ladies Lead
  • Society Horse Show
  • Fiddle & Banjo Contest
  • Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes (Three-Year-Old Eliminations)
  • ISOBA State Fair Races
  • Harness Racing
  • Billy Currington w/ Lauren Alaina


August 10, 2014 - Veterans Day -- Sunday Highlights:
  • Veterans Day Activities
  • Open Steer, Beef Shows
  • Junior Breeding Swine & Sheep Shows
  • Draft Horse Show
  • Sheep Shearing Contest
  • Husband/Hog Calling Contest
  • Veterans and their families are admitted to the grounds for free. A veterans parade and activities are some of the highlights for the day.

August 11, 2014 - Senior Citizens Day/Scout Day -- Monday Highlights
  • Open Beef, Swine, Sheep Shows
  • Junior Dairy Goat, Sheep Shows
  • Mule Show
  • Draft Horse Show
  • Fair visitors 60 and older are admitted to the fairgrounds for free. Special events in the Senior Citizens Center take place throughout the day. The Scout Day Tent will be located directly outside the entrance to the Carnival Midway

August 12, 2014 - Agriculture Day -- Tuesday Highlights
  • Open Beef, Goat, Swine, Sheep Shows
  • Draft Horse Show
  • Harness Racing - Review Stakes Grand Circuit Racing, Illinois Topline, ISF Colt Stakes Aged Divisions, Amateur Driving Race   • Auctioneer Bid Calling Contest
  • Commodity Auction
  • Governors Sale of Champions
  • Draft Horse Hitches
  • Cutest Little Farmer
  • Illinois agriculture, which is featured throughout the fair, is highlighted on this day. Grand champion junior livestock including the barrow, steer, wether, poultry trio and rabbit trio are auctioned at the Governor's Sale of Champions, and the best of Illinois processed foods are auctioned at the Commodity Auction.

  • Open Goat, Swine, Sheep, Dairy Shows
  • While Governor Quinn attends much of the Illinois State Fair, this is his day to host special guests, including former Illinois Governors.

August 14, 2014 - Republican Day -- Thursday Highlights
  • Illinois State Pullers logo
  • Open Goat, Swine, Sheep, Dairy Shows
  • Society Horse Show
  • Harness Racing - Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes -2 & 3 year old Championships; Illinois State Fair Colt Consolations; ISOBA State Fair Races
  • Illinois Republicans host special guests on this day. Past activities have included rallies and parades.

August 15, 2014 - Futures for Kids Day -- Friday Highlights
  • Open Llama, Swine, Sheep, Rabbit, Dairy Shows
  • Junior Dairy Show
  • Society Horse Show
  • Ponytail/Pigtail Contest
  • Smile Contest
  • Decorated Diaper/Diaper Derby Contests
  • Many of the activities on this day are centered around our younger visitors. Several competitions are held including decorated diaper, diaper derby, ponytail contest and smile contest.

August 16, 2014 - Park District Conservation Day -- Saturday Highlights
  • Open Swine, Sheep, Llama, Dairy Shows
  • Junior Dairy Show
  • Bossy Fashion Frolic
  • Society Horse Show
  • Celebrity Moo Moo Classic
  • Baton Twirling Contest
  • Members of more than 45 Park Districts from throughout Illinois entertain fairgoers across the grounds and host activities in Conservation World.

August 17, 2014 - Family Day - Sunday Highlights
  • Abe's Amble
  • Draft Horse Pull
  • Chilli Cook-Off
  • Deadlift Competition
  • The general admission price is lowered to $3 per person to encourage more families to enjoy the last day of the fair.
